The Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool‚Ñ¢ brings one of the most efficient and forgiving file transfer protocols to your Communications Toolbox based applications. Many advanced features, such as the ability to transfer files over a connection with software flow control, or to resume aborted file transfers, are possible with the ZMODEM protocol.
About this Demo
This is a demonstration version of the Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool. There are no time limits or file size restrictions. You can receive (download) as many files as you like, however functions related to sending (uploading) files have been disabled.
The tool may be used with any application that supports the file transfer manager of the Communications Toolbox. Some examples are MacTerminal®, Communicate Lite™, and the communications portion of the various "works" products.
By purchasing the Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool, you will receive the fully functional tool on disk, as well as a 24 page manual with reference, scripting guide and table of contents. You will also be eligible for discounts on other Mark/Space products, such as Communicate Lite.
What is the Communications Toolbox?
Most communications applications share certain functions - making and maintaining connections, emulating a terminal, and transferring files using common protocols. A traditional product is able to connect to a single type of device, emulate a few popular terminals, and supports a few file transfer protocols. An application that supports the communications toolbox can support as many connection types, terminal emulations, and file transfer protocols as there are tools available.
What are Communications Toolbox Tools?
Communications Toolbox Tools are special files which allow your Macintosh to emulate, transfer material, and connect to remote computers. There are three main kinds of tools in the Communications Toolbox:
1. Connection Tools: These establish a basic connection between two (or more) computers. Examples: Apple Modem Tool, Serial Tool, AppleTalk ADSP Tool.
2. Terminal Emulation Tools: These allow your Macintosh to act like, or “emulate” a terminal supported by the system to which it is connected. Examples: TTY Tool, VT102 Tool, VT320 Tool.
3. File Transfer Tools: These allow your Macintosh to transfer files over a phone line or other connection. Examples: Text Tool, XMODEM Tool, Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool.
What is the Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool?
The Mark/Space ZMODEM Tool is a file transfer tool that implements the ZMODEM protocol. ZMODEM offers high speed file transfer, error detection and recovery, and the ability to resume an interrupted transfer. Using the ZMODEM tool and a suitable application, you will be able to exchange files with your favorite BBS, another Macintosh running a communications application, and many commercial online services.
